About

Sydney Open Library (SOL) hosts academic monographs and textbooks published by Sydney University Press in open access, covering subjects across the humanities and social sciences. SOL was launched in 2019 with over 40 titles. New books will be added as they are published and/or released in open access.

Our open access books were previously held in the repository at the University of Sydney Library.

As a not-for-profit publisher, Sydney University Press (SUP) takes a hybrid approach to open access, with some books released commercially and others in open access. All SUP books are peer-reviewed and undergo identical editorial and production processes, whether they are published open access or commercially. More information about SUP’s open access policy is available on our website.

Most of our open access books are released with the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) licence.
