This book’s Warlpiri title “Juju-ngaliyarlu karnalu-jana pina-pina-mani kurdu-warnu-patu jujuku” translates as “Elders passing on ceremonial knowledge to the young people”. This was a collaborative decision made by Warlpiri contributors and reflects the sentiment of the English title.

We acknowledge that this book was produced on the unceded lands of Warlpiri, Arrernte, Gadigal, Gundangurra, Kaurna, Ngambri and Ngunnawal people.

We acknowledge all First Nations Australian people who have passed on their culture through generations and continue to do so into the future.

This publication was supported by the Australian Academy of the Humanities Publication Subsidy Scheme.
