The following people have been invaluable to us both in developing our understanding and awareness of the science, psychology and politics of wind energy and in providing support to us in many ways as the book was written: Mike Barnard, David Clarke, Christophe Delaire, Simon Holmes à Court, Marita Hefler, Ketan Joshi, Geoff Leventhall, Chris Ollson, Keith Petrie and James Rubin.
This is Simon’s fifth book with Sydney University Press since 2010. Like this book, three of these were published in both paperback and as open-access ebooks. Together these three books have been downloaded some 90,000 times.
Knowing how strong the readership numbers, retweets and Facebook shares have been for our 17 columns for The Conversation1 on windfarm issues (272,313 readers, 2678 tweets and 24,801 Facebook shares), we are hoping this book will eclipse all of those combined, such is the global concern for the importance of renewable energy. We are extremely grateful to Sydney University Press for their wonderful support in allowing the ebook to be freely accessible to all. Agata Mrva-Montoya has edited each of these five books. Her patience, good humour and unfailing eye for detail have been constant. Denise O’Dea’s copy editing of this book was way beyond first-class. Every page, and quite nearly every paragraph, was improved by her professionalism. We can’t thank them both enough.
